I-T raid uncovers Rs108 cr in unaccounted income
Jaipur: The five-day income tax raid targeting luxury wedding and destination wedding service providers in Jaipur concluded on Monday, revealing Rs 108 crore in unaccounted income. The operation began on Thursday and covered 22 locations associated with high-profile wedding businesses. The officials claimed to have seized Rs 9.66 crore in unaccounted cash and gold jewelry weighing 12.966 kilograms, valued at Rs10.63 crore.
Additionally, they recovered numerous documents, digital records of cash transactions, WhatsApp chats, laptops, and hard disks, which will undergo detailed analysis, potentially increasing the disclosed black money. Sources suggest the income tax department had prior intelligence about discrepancies in invoices and the actual amounts charged for “royal weddings” across Rajasthan, India, and abroad. The preliminary verification of this led to targeting of resorts, hotel operators, wedding planners, event management firms, caterers, florists, & other service providers.
