‘India’s Green Tech approach to climate change is ideal’

Geneva/New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, leading the Indian Parliamentary Delegation to the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, addressed the theme “Harnessing Science, Technology, and Innovation for a More Peaceful and Sustainable Future.” He emphasized India’s commitment to multilateralism, highlighting the importance of dialogue and cooperation among Parliaments in science and technology for the common good.

Birla noted India’s focus on innovation through the Start-up India program, boasting 118 unicorns valued over USD 355 billion. He discussed India’s efficient public service delivery via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring transparency. He called for regulatory measures for technology, urging discussions on data privacy and responsible AI use, while highlighting the Indian Parliament’s recent legislative advancements in technology and environment.
