Rajasthan: 20 years of imprisonment for raping a minor in Jalore, fine imposed
The POCSO court of the district sentenced 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in the case of raping a minor, while also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000. The accused had abducted the minor and raped her by taking her to different cities.
On November 13, 2020, at the Bhinmal police station in Jalore, the relatives lodged an FIR regarding the minor, in the same case the POCSO court sentenced the accused. Based on the statements and evidence of 19 witnesses, the Special Judge of the POCSO Court, Hukam Singh Rajpurohit, section 343, 363, 376(2) (N) of the Indian Penal Code and 3/4, 5(L)/6 protection of children from sexual offenses Act 2012, convicted and sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000.
Special Public Prosecutor Syed Mumtaz Ali told that the father of the minor girl had lodged the report on November 13, 2020 at Bhinmal police station. In the report, he stated that his 16-year-old daughter had left the house at night on 12 November, but did not return. After searching everywhere, they could not find any clue of her. After that, while taking action, the Bhinmal police arrested the accused Barkat Khan (25), son of Subhan Khan after detaining the minor girl. After this, the Bhinmal police had registered a case against the accused in Bhinmal police station under various sections including POCSO.
