SKIN CARE HOLY GRAIL: SERUMS

Sweltering heat and pollution cause dullness and skin damage along with a plethora of little barriers spurring skin to lose its natural glow. To know how to assimilate a perfect skin care routine for summer, Nidhi Grover, shared tips on how to use serums correctly.

  • What is your opinion on vitamin C and how to incorporate it into a skin care routine?

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that works to stimulate collagen production in your skin. It also fights fine lines, brightens complexion & provides a host of other benefits. You can incorporate Vitamin C in your skin care in three forms-

  1. Cleanser: Choose a non-irritating, gentle cleanser that is free of sulphates, and other harsh ingredients.
  2. Toner: Toners are a vital step in the skin care routine as they help tighten pores, remove dirt, oil, or makeup, and restore the pH balance of the skin. They also aid in moisture retention for a healthy, glowing complexion.
  3. Serum: Using vitamin C serum is the easiest and most efficient way to deliver nutrients to your skin. Once or twice application a week results in reduced free radicals and regenerated skin cells. Unlike cleansers and toners, a serum offers quick and visible results with just a few drops applied to the skin.
  • What are AHA/BHA products and how can they be used for effective results?

Alpha Hydroxy Acids(AHAs) and Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs) are both chemical exfoliating agents that help remove dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin. They also have anti-ageing effects like smoothing fine lines & improving the texture of the skin. It’s advisable to get a patch test done before incorporating AHA and BHA into your skin care routine so It should be used in prescribed quantities only followed by a good amount of moisturiser( as prescribed by the doctor).

  • Along with topical serums and creams, what supplements are important for healthy skin?

Vitamins, minerals & probiotics are required to have good skin, hair and nails. Achieving an optimum level of healthcare along with great skin, through diet alone on daily bases is often not realistic today. Supplements like A, B, C, D, E & K all are equally important and incorporate goodness in overall health. Along with these vitamins additional omega 3 fatty acids, glutathione, zinc, minerals and probiotics should be added as per requirement for great results.
