RAJASTHAN'S DEVI SINGH CROWNS PM MODI WITH TRADITIONAL SAFAS
New Delhi/Jaipur: Devi Singh, who ties the Rajasthani turban to Prime Minister Narendra Modi every year on Independence Day and Republic Day, has done this commendable work 20 times in the last eleven years, but even once he did not take any photo while tying the turban to the Prime Minister. This time on the 78th Independence Day, he tied the multicolour vibrant Rajasthani leheriya print turban of Rajasthan to the Prime Minister, which was quite suiting the face of PM Modi while addressing the nation after unfurling the tricolor flag at the historic Red Fort in New Delhi.
Retired from the Indian Army, Devi Singh is a native of Balesar in the Jodhpur district of Rajasthan and currently resides in Dwarka, Delhi. He said that there could be no greater happiness and pride for me than that I tie the turban to the Prime Minister of the largest democracy of the world every year.
Devi Singh, who has a Rajputi-style moustache, says that he has been doing the work of tying the turban to Prime Minister Modi since 2014. He exclaimed 10 years ago, fourteen artists from Rajasthan had come to Delhi for the same purpose but the Prime Minister preference his hands craftsmanship and since then till now he has maintained his belief and has never even publicized this. Devi Singh said that in the last ten years, he has tied Rajasthani turbans of different colours and types to PM Modi, which have proved to add charm to his personality.
Apart from PM Modi, Devisingh has tied Rajasthani turban to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, General VK Singh and many other national leaders and chief ministers of states. He has family relations with the family of former minister and Rajasthan Minister Col Rajya Vardhan Singh. His skill in tying the turban is so good that he can tie a classy turban in minutes. At present, his family is also providing his services in marriages and functions in Delhi due to his proven hand skill of tying Safa.
