Raj govt should work seriously under JJM provisions: Shekhawat

Jaipur: Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat during a review meeting of Jal Jeevan Mission held at Jai Mahal Palace, expressed his displeasure over the progress in ongoing works under Jal Jeevan mission in Rajasthan.

PHED Minister Mahesh Joshi himself also accepted the fact. The state is ranked 32nd in terms of progress in two and a half years.

It was informed in the meeting that the state government was allotted a budget of Rs 27, 000 crore from 2019 to 2022 but the pace of work remained slow and the government could withdraw only Rs 4000 crore and expenditure was Rs 3,500 crore.

Joshi said that completing large-scale projects is not possible in 24 months and therefore the deadline should be extended till March 2026.

Shekhawat said “We have to take everyone along. Every poor family has to be provided with a tap connection.”
