Jaipur: Pandemonium prevailed in the State Assembly on Monday when the issue of presence of a ‘mazar’ (Muslim grave) within the premises of the famous Laxmi Narayan temple, Bari Chaupar was rasied.

BJP member Madan Dilawar raised a hue and cry over the matter when it came up during the Budget discussions related to the demand of grants for the shrine.

Initially, another BJP member Ashok Lahoti raised the issue saying the mazar came up in the premises of a Hindu temple due to the negligence of the Devasthan dept of the state govt.

“Which temple else in the world has a mazar inside its premises?”, he asked. Industry minister Shakuntal Rawat said, “There was never a tomb here. There is a temple of Baiji ji, there is no tomb there. How can there be a tomb above the Shiva temple.” There was a dispute about the issue in the city
