Jaipur: Four new cases of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 were reported in the state in single day, however total eight people tested Covid positive on Wednesday. Eight patients tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday and presently there are 34 active cases in state while two have been discharged.

The samples were sent for genome sequencing, of which four tested positive for JN.1 sub-variant.

Dr. Bharti Malhotra, Senior Professor of Microbiology at SMS Medical College, confirmed the detection of the JN.1 sub-variant in the genome sequencing of four Covid-positive patients.

In a separate incident on December 26, a 55-year-old woman underwent a COVID-19 test at SMS Hospital in Jaipur, revealing her infection with the JN-1 variant. However, tracing her has proven challenging as the given address and mobile number are inaccurate. Despite informing Ajmer Medical College about the case, reaching the infected woman has proven elusive. Health dept teams are currently intensively searching for her to ensure timely and appropriate medical interventions. This underscores the importance of accurate information and efficient tracing mechanisms in the ongoing efforts to manage spread of COVID-19 variants.
