Against this, a total of Rs 9,353 crore has been received by the treasury in the two months of April and May of the current year. This is 13.5 per cent of the total target. According to financial management experts, as per the average of 12 months, the achievement of two months should have been 17 per cent.

It is noteworthy that for the first time in the Bhajan Lal government, the Chief Secretary, Divisional Commissioner and all the District Collectors have been entrusted with the big and important responsibility of achieving the revenue target. For last two months, the chief secretary’s office has been monitoring day to day progress of all the Divisional Commissioners and Collectors. Some Collectors have been given a warning for negligence in this matter. Now, since elections and model code of conduct are over, it is a big challenge for the revenueearning departments to achieve the remaining 87 per cent in next ten months.
