BJP rebel Rajpal, others withdraw papers

Jaipur: Thursday was a very important day in Rajasthan Assembly elections being the last day for withdrawal of nominations. On first day of withdrawal of nominations, both the parties could not convince the rebels on the main seats. However, after being talked to by Union Home Min Amit Shah, rebel Rajpal Singh from Jhotwara assembly seat agreed to withdraw nomination.

Shekhawat said it is important to defeat the Congress therefore, after having (telephonic) talks with party leader Amit Shah, he has decided to withdraw his nomination. “It is more important to form the BJP government in the state,” he told reporters. The party fielded Jaipur Rural MP Rajyavardhan S Rathore from Jhotwara, which led to resentment in Shekhawat and among his supporters, who also staged a protest outside party office. Cong has fielded NSUI state prez Abhishek Chaudhary from Jhotwara seat.

Congress rebel Rameshwar Dadhich from Sursagar Assembly seat (Jodhpur) withdrew his nomination at around 12 noon on Wednesday.
