Are Collectors losing their honour, by their own doings?

Jaipur: District Collectors sometimes take such actions that their irresponsible acts result in ‘harming’ the honour of entire bureaucracy. The recent matter pertains to Dholpur Collector RK Jaiswal. Last week, after arresting Dholpur MLA Giriraj Singh Malinga, the police took him from Jaipur to Dholpur where not only Collector Jaiswal was present to receive him, but even ‘obediently’ welcomes him with folded hands in namaskar.

Several police officials and district administration officials became witness to Jaiswal’s actions wherein Malinga had reached Dholpur as an accused. He is accused in a serious case of manhandling government officials, in which the court has not given him bail and sent him to judicial custody for 15 days.

Jaiswal is continuously serving in Dholpur for the past three years and although he may or may not have paid ‘obeisance’ to Giriraj Malinga, it is well known that it is due to Malinga’s ‘good faith’ that Jaiswal is secured in Dholpur for three years. But receiving Malinga - the accused - by the Collector with folded hands is simply wrong.

A similar controversy had erupted with Ajmer Collector Vishwa Mohan Sharma, who crossed all limits in welcoming the son of a minister that he reached the Collectorate’s porch to welcome the individual. The car of minister’s son used to be parked in the porch area whereas the Collector’s car used to be parked elsewhere. Moreover, the son used to sit in government meetings and his this action was unapproved by seniors in Jaipur. A few days later he was removed from Ajmer and called to Jaipur. Since July 2020, Sharma is in a cold bag posting but the state government did not find it prudent to give him posting in some other district.
