Did Shah Rukh Khan work for free in R Madhavan’s Rocketry: The Nambi Effect?

New Delhi: R Madhavan is gearing up for his next release ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ which will also mark his directorial debut. The film is being anticipated by fans and is slated for July 1, 2022. With the promotion schedule for the film being at its peak, the actor has spoken a lot about the film and the much-awaited cameos of Suriya and Shah Rukh Khan in the Tamil and Hindi versions of the film respectively.

According to ANI, Madhavan revealed in an interview in New Delhi that Shah Rukh Khan did not charge him any money for his cameo as a journalist in the film. He had mentioned the film to SRK while working on the film ‘Zero’. The Maara actor mentioned, “He vividly remembered it during one of his birthday parties. He asked me about the film's status and expressed his desire to be a part of the film. 'Mujhe background mein koi bhi role chalega. Main is film ka hissa hona chahta hu’ Khan sahab told me.”

Madhavan brushed it off as just a joke and did not think SRK was serious. But on the insistence of his wife, he sent Shah Rukh’s manager a thank you note for expressing his desire to be a part of his film. In reply, his manager asked him, “Khan Sahab dates puch rahe hai shoot ki.” Madhavan stated that is how SRK became a part of his film.

He added that Suriya too did not charge any money for his role. SRK and Suriya will be portraying the same role in Hindi and Tamil respectively. Both the actors did not charge Madhavan for their role, caravan, costumes and assistants.

Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is based on the life of ISRO aerospace engineer Nambi Narayanan. It traces his life from his education at Princeton University to be one of the most celebrated engineers at ISRO and his downfall after being falsely accused of espionage in 1994.
