Union Minister G Kishan Reddy condemns Surekha's comments on Samantha's divorce, calls for boycott of insulting political discourse
Hyderabad: Union Minister and Telangana BJP Chief G Kishan Reddy has condemned Telangana Minister Konda Surekha's remarks linking the divorce of actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's divorce to Bharat Rashtra Samiti working President KT Rama Rao.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Reddy said that the BRS Chief K Chandrashekar Rao had planted a poison fruit in the society of Telangana and that the current Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was nurturing it.
"KCR has planted a poison fruit in the society of Telangana. Revanth Reddy is nurturing it. A Telangana minister commented on the family of a cinema actor; this is wrong. It is not right to say that," he said.
He also stated that for the past 10 to 15 years, the kind of language that the politicians in Telangana were using in their speeches where they insulted women and society is not maintaining any dignity.
He further urged people of Telangana as well as the media to boycott such leaders and parties.
"In the past 10-15 years, the kind of language that the politicians in Telangana are using in their speeches, press conferences and social media where they insult women and society in Telangana, they are not maintaining any dignity. This is at a very low level today. KCR started it. The language used by Revanth Reddy is worse than that used by KCR. Both parties use unparliamentary language," he said.
"I urge the people of Telangana to boycott such leaders and parties. I also urge the media that unless they boycott and blacklist such politicians, this will spread in Telangana as well as the country... There should be a decorum," Reddy said.
This came in the wake of controversy where Telangana Forest Minister Konda Surekha sparked a major controversy following her remark on Wednesday linking actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's divorce to Bharat Rashtra Samiti, working President KT Rama Rao.
Following this, Surekha issued a clarification over her remarks on social media platform X on Thursday and said that her comment was in order to question KT Rama Rao for "belittling women" and not to hurt Samantha Prabhu's sentiments.
She further stated that she would "unconditionally" retract her comments if she or her fans were offended by them.
