Delhi: Fire at furniture shop in Nabi Karim doused; cooling operation underway
New Delhi: A fire that broke out at a furniture shop in the Nabi Karim area of Delhi this morning has been doused and cooling operation are underway, said officials of Delhi Fire Service on Saturday.
The fire broke out under the jurisdiction of Dharam Kanta Multani Dhandha Police Station in the Nabi Karim area.
The fire officials received information about the incident early this morning at around 3.20 am. Acting swiftly 10 fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot and engaged in extinguishing the blaze.
"A fire broke out at a furniture shop near Dharam Kanta Multani Dhandha PS in Nabi Karim. A total of 10 fire tenders were rushed to the site. Fire has been doused and a cooling operation is underway," said officials of Delhi Fire Service.
Earlier on September 15, a fire broke out at a shoe factory on Lawrence Road in Delhi. Divisional Fire Officer AK Jaiswal stated that all workers were evacuated, and 19 fire tenders were deployed to control the situation.
A.K. Jaiswal said, "We received a call at 12:19 pm. This is a shoe factory, and continuous blasts were occurring. There is a 20-litre chemical adhesive involved, which caused the blasts. As a precaution, we have evacuated all the workers. Our officers are currently working to extinguish the fire, and those trapped have been rescued."
He further mentioned that due to it being a holiday, the number of workers inside the factory was lower than usual.
"The ceiling of the first floor has collapsed, making it difficult to access the interior. Firefighting operations are ongoing. A total of 19 fire tenders have been deployed, with three vehicles working from the rear. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported. Since it was a holiday, fewer workers were present in the factory," he said.
Thick smoke was seen billowing from the top floor of the multi-storey factory. No casualties have been reported.
