4-day Jaisalmer Maru Mahotsav begins with traditional fervour

Jaisalmer: The fourday world famous Maru Mahotsav kick started with much grandeur in Jaisalmer’s Pokaran on Sunday. Grand procession, folk songs, competitions and colours marked the beginning of the Mahotsav.

The Minister for Minority Affairs, Waqf, Colonization, Agriculture Irrigated Area Development and Water Utilities, Shaleh Mohammad flagged off the event near Salamsagar pond.

On this occasion, District Collector Pratibha Singh, District Superintendent of Police Bhanwarsinh Nathawat, public representatives of the area, officers, artists, BSF personnel, tourists and a large number of residents were present.

In the procession, BSF bravehearts rode camels, Mangal Kalash Yatra of girls and women was the primary attraction.
