Two held, constable sacked, SHO suspended; dharna over

Bikaner: A police constable was terminated, former SHO of Khajuwala police station was suspended and two persons including the terminated constable were arrested in connection with the alleged gang rape and murder of a dalit woman in Bikaner following which the family members of the victim accepted the dead body and cremated it on Friday evening.

Police inspector Arvind Singh was accused of giving patronage to the main accused Dinesh Vishnoi, who is absconding, when he was posted as the SHO Khajuwala police station till recently, before being transferred elsewhere, SP Bikaner Tejaswini Gautam said. It was alleged that the accused used to roam around in police vehicle due to the patronage of the then SHO.

At the same time, most of the staffers of the police station who had been posted there for more than 2 years were removed.

An FIR against three persons including two constables of Khajuwala police station- Manoj and Bhagirath- was registered with Khajuwala police station on Tuesday after the girl was found dead.

Both the constables were suspended immediately after the FIR registration and were detained.
Later, a video surfaced in which constable Mukesh was seen taking the victim to a hospital in a car. After his role in the incident, the decision to terminate Mukesh from police service was taken on Thursday night. The police arrested Mukesh and Rakesh on Friday. Rakeh, is accused of helping main accused Dinesh Vishnoi in running away.
