Shekhawat’s defamation case: Rouse Avenue court summons CM on Aug 7

New Delhi: Raj CM Ashok Gehlot has been summoned by a Delhi Court. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has ordered Gehlot to appear in the Court on August 7. Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat had recently filed a criminal defamation case against Gehlot accusing him (Shekhawat) of being involved in alleged Sanjivani scam, on which t h e Union Minister moved the Court. Shekhawat presented other evidence including Gehlot’s remarkb in media before the court. ACMM Harjeet Singh Jaspal asked Ashok Gehlot to appear considering the evidence against him as prima facie correct.

ACMM Jaspal said, “There are sufficient grounds for issuing summons in the case. It appears from news published in electronic media & newspapers also. All such things came to the fore in the investigation report of Delhi Police. Statements made by Ashok Gehlot are defamatory.” The court has issued notice under IPC section 500.
