Saini community demands 12% quota, blocks NH-21
Bharatpur: The Saini community has blocked the Agra-Jaipur National Highway 21 in Bharatpur since Friday evening over their demand for reservation. People of Mali, Saini, Kushwaha, Maurya Samaj blocked the highway between Arora and Beri village, which is 700 metres demanding 12 percent reservation. The situation remained the same on Saturday.
Trains were diverted. Divisional Commissioner Sanwarmal Verma had issued orders to shut down the internet for 24 hours from Friday midnight to Saturday midnight. Mobile internet services have been suspended in Nadbai, Vair and Bhusawar. The agitators sat with ration and water. According to sources, Radheshyam Sankhla from Saini community and a clerk posted in the police crime branch, was sent to talk to the protesters.
Vasudev Kushwaha, co-convenor of Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, said that the people are protesting on their own. Kushwaha said that he was being asked to lead the movement. He said that until the detained agitators are released, no talks will be held with the govt. Meanwhile, the Bharatpur police had to divert the vehicles going to and from Jaipur to Agra. Vehicles from Jaipur to Agra were diverted via Bharatpur city & traffic from Agra to Jaipur were diverted from Uchain via BayanaVair-Bhusawar.
