Rajasthan: NDRF personnel retrieve body of 13-yr-old who fell into well 3 days ago

Rajasmand: The body of a 13-year-old boy who had fallen into a well in the Chhapli village of Rajasthan's Rajasmand district on May 31 was retrieved, police said on Monday.
Personnel from State Disaster Relief Force along with Rajasmand civil defence team, police and local divers undertook efforts to rescue the teenager who had fallen into the well on Friday, according to Superintendant of Police (SP) Manish Tripathi.
NDRF personnel were called in and with the help of underwater cameras the body was found around 10 am today, the official said adding that the body had got stuck in a crevice inside the well.
SP Tripathi said, "The incident occurred when the boy went near the well to drink water. He stumbled upon a hard object, which caused him to fall into the well. The rescue operation took three days because the well was situated near a pond, due to which it was continuously getting recharged with water despite our efforts to evacuate it."
The official said, the rescue operation was conducted with the help of local divers, police, SDRF, and the Civil Defence team since the date of the incident. "Noticing zero progress and realising the seriousness of the situation, we called in the team of NDRF," the police official said.
"With the help of their modern equipment and underwater cameras, the NDRF team found the boy's body hidden in crevice within the well," he said.
Adding to the information, the Superintendent of Police said, "The boy had come to visit his maternal grandparents' home. The incident occurred at 'Kanavas,' a nearby location where he had gone to play with his friends."
