Power crisis: Absence of grid stability penalty in solar policy also a reason!
Bikaner: Absence of grid stability penalty in solar policy has emerged as one of the key reasons behind the power crisis in Rajasthan.
An in-depth study conducted by the Electricity Department has unearthed that there is no provision for penalty, many solar companies are flouting regulations regarding grid stability.
This non-compliance has resulted in solar-generated electricity lacking the necessary grid stability, causing unpredictable voltage fluctuations. Farmers, in particular, are bearing the brunt of this issue, enduring erratic power supply during solar production.
Jodhpur Discom is disproportionately affected because the water level in the region is deep and therefore high-powered motors are used. A potential solution lies in implementing capacitor bank within the grid. It remains to be seen whether the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission and Renewable Energy Corporation take effective action to address this crisis.
