PoW embarks on 1st royal journey of this season

New Delhi: The Luxury train ‘Palace on Wheels’, one of the world famous heritage trains operated by Indian Railways and Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC), left for its destinations on Wednesday from New Delhi’s Safdarjung Railway Station on its first royal journey of this season with 32 passengers.

RTDC MD Sushma Arora & Executive Director Rajendra Shekhawat, O&M MD Bhagat Singh Lohagarh and Director Pradeep Bohra, private company operating the train, flagged off the train.

RTDC MD Arora said on this occasion that this train, which started in 1982, is the country’s first heritage train. It is no exaggeration to call this luxury train the cultural ambassador of the country. She added that for the Rising Rajasthan Summit, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, Dy CM Diya Kumari and RTDC Chairman Ravi Jain are focusing on investment in tourism sector.

Rajendra Singh Shekhawat said that domestic and foreign tourists are overwhelmed by seeing hospitality of Rajasthan and Indian culture.

According to Bhagat Singh Lohagarh, 32 foreign guests are included in the royal journey in the first trip of the train. Bhagat Singh told that the cheapest package of one room (cabin) in the train is Rs 12 lakh.
