HC stays ex-MLA Mewaram’s arrest in rape case
Jodhpur: Former Barmer MLA Mewaram Jain got partial relief from the Rajasthan High Court on Friday in a case related to rape of a woman and indulging in obscene acts with her minor daughter. Jain had appealed in the HC for a stay on his arrest.
During the hearing, Justice Dinesh Mehta stayed the arrest of Jain. Mewaram, Jain’s advocate, representing him, assured to cooperate with the police in the investigation. The victim, herself, presented her side in the court.
A case was registered against nine people, including Jain and a RPS officer at the Rajiv Gandhi Police Station in Jodhpur.
