HC stays encroachment removal in Odwara
Jodhpur/Jalore: The Rajasthan High Court has intervened in the ongoing demolition drive in Odwara village of Jalore district, granting significant relief to the villagers by imposing a stay on the removal of encroachments.The decision came after a hearing on the petition filed by 29 individuals affected by the demolition drive.
Justice Vineet Mathur’s bench issued the order to halt the demolition during the hearing held in the High Court on Friday. The controversy erupted on Thursday when the demolition drive commenced in Odwara village, resulting in removal of several encroachments on first day.
During the court proceedings, the AAG Rajesh Panwar represented the govt’s stance, while the lawyers for the petitioners argued that the affected individuals had been residing in these houses for 80 years.
MINISTERS, LEADERS REACH VILLAGE ODWARA AFTER CM’S INTERVENTION
The encroachment removal operation in Odwara has attracted the attention of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, who has shown sensitivity towards the matter. Minister Otararam Dewasi and Joraram Kumawat visited Odwara to assess the situation fi rsthand. MLA Chhagan Singh Rajpurohit also reached Odwara. During their interactions with the villagers, they assured them of assistance and support from the government’s side.
