Diversification needed to increase farmers’ income, says Guv Mishra
Bikaner: Governor Kalraj Mishra inaugurated the national seminar at Swami Keshwanand Agricultural University, Bikaner and also inaugurated residential hostel. This hostel will be used for accommodation of married research students.
Governor visited Maru Shakti Agri Innovative Food Unit run by Home Science College and took information about the value added products of millet being made here. Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day national seminar on ‘Diversification in Agriculture to Increase Farmers’ Income,’ the Governor said that agriculture faces many challenges like increasing population, shrinking land holdings, depletion of natural resources, falling groundwater level, deforestation, ill-effects of greenhouse gases, reduction in soil fertility.
Mishra said that in view of seasonal and other challenges, effective methods of agricultural production, storage, be considered.
Vice Chancellor Prof. AK Singh informed about the 2-day workshop.
