Cong, BJP field candidates with rural background, make contest gripping

Ajmer: At present, the election atmosphere in the Ajmer Lok Sabha seat is quite heated. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a massive poll rally in Pushkar in support of BJP candidate Bhagirath Chaudhary. After this, the electoral tempo has further increased in the entire parliamentary constituency. The BJP has once again made sitting MP Bhagirath Chaudhary its candidate from Ajmer LS, while Congress has placed its bets on Ramchandra Chaudhary this time. The main contest for this seat seems to be between these two candidates, who belong to rural areas.

BJP candidate Bhagirath Chaudhary is known as a farmer leader, comes from a rural background, and has also been an MLA from Kishangarh in the past. He became an MP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Congress candidate Ramchandra Chaudhary also comes from a rural background and has been associated with cooperative dairy for three and a half decades. Due to this, Ramchandra’s hold is strong in rural areas. After the declaration of the candidate, the current political situation of the Ajmer Lok Sabha seat is quite different because both parties have made a Jat community member their candidate, as Ajmer is said to be a Jat-dominated seat.

If we talk about caste equations, then there are about 2.5 lakh Jats, 2 lakh Brahmins, 2.25 lakh Gurjars, 2.25 lakh Muslims, 1 lakh Vaishya, 1 lakh Rawat, 1 lakh Sindhi, 1 lakh Mali, and 2.25 lakh Scheduled Castes and Tribes. Apart from this, other castes including Ahir, Yadav, Kumawat, Tailor, Sikh, Lodhi, Rewari, Charan, Barber, Sunar, Teli, Kalal, and Lakhera, also have a share in votes.

The party candidates are getting full support from the organisation at the local level, although the BJP has included former independent MLA from Kishangarh, Suresh Tank, in its camp, while the Congress has also included Dr Shrigopal Baheti.

Wajid Khan Cheetah, who contested the elections on the BSP ticket, has also been included, which will strengthen both parties in the elections. This Lok Sabha constituency, formed by combining one Assembly seat of Jaipur and 7 Assembly seats of Ajmer district, currently has seven MLAs from BJP, while Congress only has the Kishangarh Assembly seat in Ajmer district.
