CM Sharma, MP CM Yadav discuss ERCP, sign MoUs to initiate work
New Delhi/Jaipur: Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav met CM Bhajan Lal Sharma at his residence on Sunday and in a joint press conference talked about taking forward the work on East Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP). They said both the states were ready to resolve the dispute over water sharing. The two CMs signed the MoU in front of Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in Delhi.
Yadav said, “I am happy that the issue will be resolved. The Congress government dumped the river linking programme. Bhind, Morena and Gwalior will benefit from this. Tourism and educational institutions will get a boost in both the states.”
Sharma said, “People will get relief and there will be enough water for irrigation of 2.80 lakh hectares in 13 districts of Rajasthan. Drinking water problems will also be solved. Seven dams will be built under this scheme.”
Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the ERCP MoU is on the lines of Ken Betwa. He said. “Work under the leadership of the PM Modi gets completed soon.”
