Birla emphasises strong judiciary for a developed India by 2047
Jodhpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dreamt of a developed India by 2047 but that will be possible when the judiciary is strong, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla said. He said that India has done a lot of work in providing affordable and accessible justice but this journey was not over until there is no expedited justice to the last person in the state and the country.
The Lok sabha Speaker was speaking at a function on the Platinum Jubilee of Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur on Saturday. He expressed satisfaction citing trust of the people in the courts and judges in the country. “We are happy to note that people in our country know that when they will not get justice anywhere, the courts will give them justice”, he said.
Underlining democracy as the best form of governance, Birla said that Bharat has not only maintained but consolidated its democracy despite various differences. Recognising the adoption of technology in the judicial system, Birla urged the bench and bar to think about the last person seeking justice.
“Our efforts should be aimed at providing justice to the poorest, which is affordable, accessible and expedited”, he reiterated his vision. He said that like the Supreme Court, Rajasthan High Court has also passed orders in Hindi and the judges of the High Court deserve praise for this.
Talking about democracy, the Lok Sabha Speaker said that in the journey of 75 years, the trust of the people of the country and the state was not lost while democracy was questioned in many countries of the world.
