2 sisters hang self with 2 kids over dowry dispute
Didwana: Two married women (sisters) along with their two children committed suicide by hanging themselves in Nuwan village under Maulasar police station area of Didwana district.
The deceased have been identified as Nazia (32), Sazia (30), Kanishka (7) daughter and Abir Khan (4). The family members of both the sisters have registered a complaint against seven people, accusing the inlaws of torturing and murdering them.
Police have detained seven people and a probe is on. Nazia and Sazia were siblings and married in the same family. Their husbands work abroad. It is said that there was domestic strife over dowry. They divorced the victims over the phone and asked them to leave for Peehar. However, the daughters stayed in their in-laws’ house. Their inlaws mentally tortured them and kept them confined to one room. The two were stressed and took the extreme step.
In response to the demand for the arrest of all the accused in the Deedwana Bangad Hospital, the family of the victims and members of the community had staged a protest. Relatives had refused to take the bodies and objected to the post-mortem.
After all the accused were rounded up, the family members agreed to the post-mortem for the bodies.
