WHEN THE EGO DIES, THE SOUL AWAKES!

Give some insights about your journey as an actor.
My Journey began in the Year 2012 when I joined a theatre group in Mumbai & it helped me to understand a lot about the stage. Gradually I realised that all of this helps you to play the character on stage and that’s how you become an Actor. After doing theatre for about 3 years, The first TV Show that I did was “Baal Gopal Kare Dhamaal” on “Big Magic” Channel in the Year 2015. Later on in the year 2019 to understand and learn more about my craft, I joined Sir “Neeraj Kabi” in his Theatre Workshop, “Pravah theatre laboratory” and it helped me a lot in understanding myself as a Human first & then as an Actor. Currently, I am doing a TV show by the name “Hara Sindoor” on the Atrangii TV channel & Atrangii App. I am playing a character named “Bheema”, Who is very layered, less spoken and a complex being and he is loyal to “Amma Ji” Played by the Veteran “Jaya Bhattacharya”.

What are your options regarding the current TV industry and what are your views on favouritism?
The TV Industry is certainly changing its gears now, with a show like “Hara Sindoor” which is so different from a regular “Saas Bahu” show. I feel the younger audience has a very different taste than what we used to have 15 years back and hence the makers are coming up with new and interesting content on TV. As far as favouritism is concerned, it’s everywhere. Be it any industry, school, college even homes. There is someone who is someone’s favourite. I think “acceptance” is the key and rather than complaining about it, we need to face it & overcome it.

What is your biggest goal as an actor?
Getting global recognition & continue to entertain people with my work, even after my death.

Describe your creative process.
My creative process towards any character differs from character to character. Like in “Hara Sindoor” I have to prepare 15 points and these are “Bheema’s” characteristics as per the story. Hence I always do a scene keeping these 15 points in my mind so that “Bheema” looks and performs differently than any other character that I have played so far. In certain challenging scenes, I cut off myself from everybody on the set and just be in my space to bring out the truth of the character.

What would you do differently if you were to start over again from day one?
So initially when I started getting work I feel I became a little too proud & egoistic, especially when I was coming from a theatre space where I had spent more than 3 years and it created a solid base as an Actor. So if I were to start all over again I would not let that feeling of egoistic or proudly affect me.
