Rock the Polka Dots

This is the time to experiment with print, and one of the most beloved is the polka dot. The polka dot has been one of those trends that though not stealing the spotlight at all times, has faithfully lingered in the background. And as designers continue to revisit the past for inspiration season after season, it’s only fitting that it has made a comeback as one of the key resort 2017 trends. The pattern evokes a sense of nostalgia, instantly conjuring beachside imagery— think a polka-dotted high-waist bikini (complete with heartshaped sunglasses) on a sunny day, with a Coca-Cola bottle in one hand. And while designers this season have retained some semblance of this oldschool charm, they haven’t entirely shied away from an au courant update either. So cut to 2017, and the happy-go-lucky print has been largely reimagined in a monochrome palette on tealength dresses, ruffles, pleats and cinched silhouettes.

When it comes to styling your own, you can never go wrong with classic black and white (which will transition well come fall, too), but try amping things up for summer with punchy brights, like primary green, blue, pink, and red. Keep things modern but still effortless when choosing your silhouettes. If you fancy the feminine, flouncy blouses and ruffled skirts will serve you well when packing for any vacation. Embodying the feminine charm and playful contemporary style, each piece effortlessly allows you to exude the 50’s holiday elegance. The limited edition line showcases various types of polka dots, textures, fabrics, and details. From a sky blue swing dress to a mocha - coloured sleeveless dress accentuated by a brown satin bow, some fashion brands successfully reinterpreted the iconic print.
