BREAK THE PATRIARCHY

Jaipur on Friday witnessed true women empowerment when Dr. Nirmala Sewani, a meditation guru conducted the marriage ceremony of Abhinav and Soumya in 32 steps by Prajapati marriage method, in the form of a female priest. It is the first marriage in Jaipur where instead of a male a female priest took the charge of getting the marriage done. According to the family members, this decision may spark a national trend that challenges patriarchy in weddings, after all, female priests are not uncommon in India. On asked about her methods of conducting marriages Sewani said "I have been supervising rituals of Hindu marriages in the Prajapati Brahma Vidhi method in 32 steps. It is said in Hindu mythology that when the rituals of Pheras begin all the gods and goddesses sat down with the bride and groom at the mandap and give blessings to the couple. So following the same rituals we will conduct the marriage of this beautiful couple."
