Uproar at Fortis Hosp as patient dies after kidney transplant

Jaipur: There was a huge uproar after the death of a kidney transplant patient in Fortis Hospital, Jaipur. The patient was admitted to the hospital when his health deteriorated after the transplant.

The patient, Naresh, died just before his discharge. The family members have filed a complaint at Jawahar Nagar police station accusing Fortis Hospital of negligence in treatment. But when no action was taken, the family members became furious. They refused to accept the body and created a ruckus. On receiving information, a police team reached the hospital. A few days ago, the mother of the deceased had donated a kidney to her son.

After First India reported the matter, Fortis Healthcare administration issued an official statement saying that Naresh’s transplant was done on March 22 and was discharged on March 30 after he became stable. “He was admitted again on April 4 due to pelvic dysfunction and urine infection. He suddenly suffered cardiac arrest in MICU on Friday in the hospital. Our medical team made efforts to revive him but failed. Medical literature also states that infection is the major risk in kidney transplantation,” said the hospital administration, expressing deep condolences to the family.
