‘UPAR BHAGWAN AUR NEECHE MEIN’: HOW DESHRAJ RAN HIS ‘RAJ’ IN DEPARTMENT?
Jaipur: In the case related to arrest of Deputy Registrar of Cooperatives, Deshraj Yadav, for demanding and accepting Rs five lakh as bribe, it has come to light that Deshraj was a ‘Major Power Centre’ of the Department. With his high political reach and ability to ‘play the game’, he got posted on one of the ‘hottest’ and ‘financially sound’ posts even though he is junior to 190 officers and he continued his grasp on the post for the past twenty nine months!
Nearly one and a half years back, Deshraj was promoted from Inspector to Assistant Registrar and at that time, he was on 111 number in the seniority list of AS, which had a total of 145 individuals. Above him were eighty deputy registrars, but the ‘preferred’ official, Deshraj Yadav ,was supported in his jump over 190 seniors & posted as Deputy Registrar.
Sources reveal that crores of rupees can be made from the post of Deputy Registrar Jaipur City under whom several ‘Griha Nirman Sehkari Samiti’ get registered and the regularisation of land & plots of these Samitis happen under this post. In work related to plotting & sale of the said plots, the Deputy Registrar has a major hand and it is in this role that Deshraj has played a ‘major game’.
According to ACB, he was engaged head to toe in corruption and his work style was not any less than looting. He used to often say “There is God above, and me below”.
There are 83 Dy Registrars senior to him in Dept, & though he was an Asst Registrar, he had grasped the most lucrative post of Deputy Registrar. Such was his clout that even Dept’s Principal Secretary & Registrar were nought before him. These seniors tried to transfer Deshraj several times, but due to political backing, Deshraj failed all such attempts!
