Tonk: Rs 17.17 cr penalty imposed on miners
Jaipur: Irregularities in gravel stocks among mining lease holders in the Tonk district have resulted in a loss of government revenue amounting to crores of rupees. Mines Dept has taken action, imposing a penalty of Rs 17.17 crore on miners in Palara, Dodwari, Mundian, Saidabad, and Mandawar. Following a statewide campaign against illegal mining, discrepancies were discovered during a probe.
In Mandawar, 1,40,580.93 tonnes of excess stock were found, warranting a penalty of Rs 7.02 crore. In Dodwadi and Mundiya faced penalties of Rs 41 lakh 54 thousand 580 and Rs 5.31 crore respectively. In Palda, a shortage of 1801.09 tonnes led to a Rs 9 lakh penalty, while Saidabad faced penalty of Rs 2.67 cr for excess stock. Mundiya also incurred penalties amounting to Rs 1.63 cr. Total compound penalty in three locations amounts to Rs 12.76 crore, reflecting govt’s resolve to address mining irregularities.
