Surpur creates record, gets 33k cr in GST collection in merely 365 days!

Jaipur: The 2004 batch IAS, Ravi Kumar Surpur took the charge of Commissioner, Commercial Taxes in April 2022 at ‘Kar Bhawan’. At that time, the financial year had just started and this is a coincidence that with the completion of financial year, Surpur has completed one year on the post.

In this one year, Surpur has created a record as he has collected a whopping Rs 33,000 crore in GST. This is a twenty three percent growth over previous year (2021-22) and therefore, it is a huge achievement of the department. Prior to Covid-19, the GST collection stood at Rs 21,000 crore and during the covid- 19 year, this fell down to Rs 20,000 crore.

Ravi Kumar Surpur has achieved this feat under the direction and guidance of ACS Finance, Akhil Arora. Surpur is a silent performer, who has been working for the past one year with immense dedication. He has a long experience of Finance Department as in the year 2008, he has served as Deputy Secretary of the Department.

From 2019 to 2022, he was on deputation to Karnataka and as he returned to the State cadre, the State government gave him the responsibility of Commissioner, Commercial Taxes; a responsibility, which he has carried out excellently!
