State’s cultural richness draws over 15 cr religious tourists in 11 months
Jaipur: The percentage of tourists coming to every region of the country for religious tourism including Rajasthan, is 90 percent. However, in Rajasthan, this average is 95 percent.
A record 16.06 crore tourists came to Rajasthan in the first 11 months of the year 2023, out of which 15 crore were those who came exclusively for religious tourism. Of these, about 75 lakh visited the ticketed monuments, while about 20 lakh visited the monuments under ASI and nearly 50 lakh visited the jungle safari, zoo and biological parks.
Apart from these, most of the tourists come to Rajasthan to visit temples and other religious places. Due to such devotees cum tourists, the travel trade in Rajasthan has taken a leap.
As after visiting temples and religious places, these tourists do other activities, due to which more than 30 lakh people associated with the industry get employment.
Some of the leading religious destinations in the state included Sikar with 2.40 cr devotees at Shri Khatu Shyamji, Jaipur with 1.65 cr devotees at Shri Govind Devii, Shila Mata, Ajmer with 1.31 cr at Pushkarji and Khwaja Garib Nawaz, Chittor with 1.26 cr devotees at Shri Sanwaliyaji, Sawai Madhopur with 1.25 cr at Shri Trinetra Ganesh and Bharatpur with 1.04 cr at Brij Chaurasi temple.
