SGST identifies 1,088 bogus firms, unveils Rs 481 cr fraud
Jaipur: The State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) dept has identified 1,088 bogus firms involved in fraudulent input tax credit worth over Rs 481 crore.
A recent report sent to the state govt reveals that the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) initiated a nationwide campaign on Aug 16 to address this issue. Prior to this, SGST had already launched its own drive against such firms.
Dr Ravi Kumar Surpur, Chief Commissioner of SGST, confirmed the identification of these firms and stated that legal action under GST law is being prepared. An addl commissioner, Rajeev Kumar, has been appointed as nodal officer for the CBIC’s special campaign.
