Sanitation workers’ strike in Jaipur continues

Jaipur: On the second day of the Safai Karamcharis’ strike in Jaipur, members of the Valmiki community continued their protest under the banner of the Sanyukt Valmiki Safai Shramik Sangh. The strike has impacted the city’s sanitation, leading to garbage accumulation throughout Jaipur. The protesters are demanding recruitment based on muster rolls, priority for Valmiki community candidates, & appointment orders for pending court cases and resolved recruitments. Talks between the sanitation staff and the Directorate of Local Bodies (DLB) on Wednesday failed to reach a consensus. Sanitation staff from outside the Valmiki community are not participating in the strike. As the standoff continues, the city is grappling with severe sanitation challenges.
