Retd Col Sonaram signs up for Congress again
Jaipur: In Jaipur, veteran leader and former parliamentarian Colonel (retd) Sonaram Choudhary rejoined the Congress party. Choudhary, who had switched to the BJP ahead of the 2014 general elections and contested the election on the BJP ticket from the Barmer parliamentary seat, rejoined the party.
He had defeated BJP’s veteran leader Jaswant Singh who had rebelled and contested as an independent candidate. On Sunday, he formally joined the Congress. He met the party president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi, and returned to Jaipur where he joined the party.
“I am a soldier and have been in every corner of the country. BJP cancelled my ticket in 2019. I came back in Cong on the advice of Hemaram ji. There is tension in country because of BJP that’s why I joined Congress. I will come back victorious from Gudhamalani and will form Congress govt again in Rajasthan,” he said.
