Religious tourism booms in Rajasthan

Jaipur: Rajasthan is becoming famous a ‘Dharmasthan’ in the world as the number of devotees visiting the state are increasing. In 2022, a total of 10 crore 87 lakh tourists came to the state and people visiting tourist places was 63 lakh. However, the number of people visiting religious places was more than 10 crore 24 lakh.

Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh said that faith has a deep connection with Rajasthan. “We have Pushkar, Garib Nawaz in Ajmer, Salasar Balaji, Khatu Shyamji, Ramdevra, Mehandipur Balaji. Besides, there are hundreds of religious places, including Govind Dev Ji, Shila Mata, Kaila Devi, Karni Mata, Beneshwar Dham, Ramdevra, Shri Mahavir Ji. The way the state govt has developed these religious places, devotees are increasing,” he said.

Dr Mahendra Singh Khadgawat, director of the Dept of Archaeology, said that the development of basic facilities at monuments and museums creates a sense of security among tourists.

Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secy, Tourism Department, said that after the implementation of the new tourism policy, tourists are attracted towards Rajasthan. “Increase in religious tourism has also increased the economy of the state. In the last few years, the infrastructure developed by Rajasthan in tourist places, religious places and rural tourism sector is proving beneficial,” she said.
