Rajeshwar leaving big boots to fill in Revenue Board!

Jaipur: Senior IAS Rajeshwar Singh is departing from the services after creating a new history in the state's administration. His retirement is on Wednesday. He has made a record of holding the post of Chairman of the Board of Revenue for three years. He took charge of this large and important institution in July 2024 and played a successful inning for exactly three years.

The importance of Rajeshwar Singh's three-year-long innings increases with the background that in the last two decades, there have been 18 Chairman on the Board, but the tenure of even one of them was not even close to that of Singh's. Chairman Mukesh Sharma, who served in the year 2018-20, is in the second position with the longest tenure. But his tenure was also only 19 months compared to 3 years.

In this context, it will be interesting to know the tenure of some IAS officers who were Chairman - Anil Vaish - 75 days, Surendra Kumar - 5 months, Harish Nayer - 6 months, Ashok Shekhar - 7 months, OP Saini- 8 months, Chandra Mohan Meena - 10 months and Umrao Salodia. - 1 year.

R. Venkateswaran, from whom Rajeshwar Singh took over the charge of Chairman in July 2021, also remained in this chair for only one year. Those who know and understand the state bureaucracy, know that in reality, no senior IAS wants to go to Ajmer, even though the post of Chairman has the second highest seniority after CS in the State government.

In such a situation, leaving the glory of state bureaucracy in Jaipur and staying in Ajmer for three years gives credit to Rajeshwar Singh. Then the important and noteworthy thing is that during these three years, he not only remained uncontroversial but also reestablished the glory of the institute by improving the condition and direction.

When Rajeshwar took over as Chairman in July 2021, the board's image was tarnished due to the raids of ACB and Board members being involved in corruption cases. The Chairman's office and chair were also stained. But due to his ability, hard work, and expertise, Rajeshwar Singh has washed away a lot of the soot from the board in the past few years.

For most of the three years, Rajeshwar remained in Ajmer and kept himself engrossed in the work of the Board. He also broke the narrative created owing to earlier Chairmen that the top official remains absent from Ajmer. It is worth noting that during his short tenure of 8 months.

OP Saini came to the office occasionally, and the lawyers there put up posters of missing persons on the walls of the office for him.

Now that Rajeshwar Singh is leaving, the Board of Revenue has again come on track. Singh is leaving behind the Chairman's chair of repute and it is important that his successor has the ability and equanimity to maintain this repute!
