Raj delays UPS rollout as OPS reinstated
Jaipur: The Rajasthan govt, which has reintroduced the old pension scheme (OPS), has not been able to make a decision regarding the implementation of the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) which was recently announced by the centre.
There are over 10 lakh government employees in the state. The scheme assures a pension of 50 percent of the average basic pay drawn over the last 12 months prior to superannuation for employees with a minimum of 25 years of service.
Besides, the UPS provides a guaranteed family pension equivalent to 60 percent of the pension of the employee immediately before his/her demise. The UPS assures minimum pension of Rs 10k per month on superannuation, provided the employee has completed at least 10 years of service.
