Raj Cong proposes Sonia as RS candidate
Jaipur: Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully have sent separate proposals for former Cong President Sonia Gandhi to contest Rajya Sabha elections from Rajasthan. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan. His tenure is coming to an end.
Before preparing the proposal to send Sonia Gandhi to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan, the State President and Leader of Opposition discussed it with all the senior leaders. Both the proposals were sent on Sunday after a consultation with MLAs and senior leaders. Rajasthan Congress leaders said that Sonia Gandhi going to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan will boost the morale of the leaders and workers here.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Cong has sent a proposal in this regard. The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee has also made a similar offer. But Sonia Gandhi has yet not taken any decision on proposal. Congress will announce candidates on February 13 or 14 after which things will become clear.
Rajya Sabha polls on three Rajasthan seats are on February 27. BJP is likely to bag 2 seats while Congress 1.
