RAIDS BY TAX SLEUTHS ‘POLITICALLY MOTIVATED’, SAYS MoS RAJENDRA
Jaipur: Amid countrywide raids of the Income Tax department, Rajasthan’s Minister of State for Home, Rajendra Yadav, who was also raided by the I-T sleuths on Wednesday, refuted all the charges of irregularities in the supply of mid-day meal. A large number of CRPF personnel were present along with the officers of the I-T department at more than 50 places linked to Yadav and his relatives. The teams conducted raids in Jaipur and Kotputli, from where Yadav is an MLA. Regarding the raids, Rajendra Yadav said that Income Tax should investigate.
“I have no objection in this. We have been in business since 1950, from the time of my father. We have never done anything wrong, have always engaged in clean business. I have an old business in Uttarakhand of cold storage and transport work wherein one thousand people work. 800 people are working in the packaging factory in Kotputli. I-T action seems to be driven by political sentiments.” “I have nothing to do with mid-day meal and these allegations are baseless. Linking names with political funding is wrong. We do packaging work. We are not related to mid-day meal, we make gunny bags and packaging. We are not responsible for what anyone fills in it after the final product leaves the factory. If action is taken targeting me and my family, then we will fight it. I do clean politics and clean business, there is no confusion in this,” he added. Interestingly, sources related to Rajendra Yadav claimed that no tax evasion has been conducted by companies which Rajendra Yadav is associated with. “Still, if there is any complaint, then Rajendra Yadav will give full cooperation,” they said.
