Prepare roadmap for thermal power plant: ACS

Jaipur: In a good news for the energy sector in Rajasthan, the state government has shown seriousness and started exploring possibilities for setting up a thermal power plant in lignite based Gudha West.

Additional Chief Secretary Energy Subodh Agarwal on Friday held a meeting with senior officials to discuss the possibilities of setting up the plant.

Agarwal informed that mining of 10 lakh per tonne lignite production capacity in Gudha West is with Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals.

He said that there was a proposal to set up a plant of 125 to 135 MW power generation capacity in the Gudha which could not materialise due to some reasons.

He said that four possible options for lignite mining and power generation by that lignite were considered in the meeting today.

Agrawal directed Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam and Rajasthan Mines and Minerals to prepare a roadmap for the project.

He said that in the area, electricity is already being generated in the power plant of Neyveli Lignite of the Government of India
