Planet vs. Plastic: An attempt to save Earth
Jaipur: This Earth Day with the theme ‘Planet vs. Plastic’, the aim is to significantly reduce use of plastics to protect both ecosystems & human health.
On Earth Day, focus will be on reducing plastic production by 60% from 2024 to 2040, eliminating single-use plastics. Forests are home to 80% of world’s terrestrial species. During 2015- 2020, 10 million hectares of trees were felled around the world every year and only 5 million hectares of trees were planted every year during this time.
Notably, Villages like Piplantri of Rajsamand are an example in today’s time where it is a tradition to plant 101 trees on the birth of a girl child.
