Patients run around as SMS Hosp falls short of medicines
Jaipur: State’s largest SMS hospital is facing shortage of medicines causing trouble to the patients. Doctors prescribe medicines like calcium, sodium valproate, pregabalin and thyroxine to almost every patient but these are not available at the drug distribution counters (DDC).
This is happening despite Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinmsar instructing health department officials during a meeting on Friday to keep medicines in stock in hospitals. However, patients were seen running around for medicines.
Many patients were sent to DDC 10-11 for medicines. This caused them hassle as they were asked to bring the prescription and photocopy of their ID card. But this did not end here. They were told to come after two days to take the medicines.
