New records made with auction of mineral blocks
Jaipur: Rajasthan is rapidly becoming a significant hub for the production of major minerals such as gold, copper, iron ore, base metals, rare earth elements, manganese, and others. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, with the diligent efforts of Mining Secretary Anandi and Director Bhagwati Prasad Kalal, Rajasthan has set a new record in preparing and auctioning blocks for major and minor minerals.
In the last fiscal year, a total of 31 blocks were auctioned, including mining licenses for 22 limestone blocks, composite licenses for 5 base metal blocks, and 4 iron ore blocks. During CM Bhajan Lal Sharma’s tenure, 21 major mineral blocks have been auctioned so far, comprising 16 limestone, 4 iron ore, and 1 siliceous earth block. The auction of mining licenses is expected to generate over Rs 50,000 crore in revenue for the mining department in the coming years. This will not only increase self-reliance in mineral production and boost exports but also create thousands of jobs. The auction process for 48 limestone blocks is currently underway. Successful auctions of these blocks are expected to significantly increase the revenue of the mining dept, further enhancing its contribution to the state treasury.
Since the beginning of this year, the mining department has accelerated the online auction process for new major mineral blocks. Director of Mining Bhagwati Prasad Kalal has been in constant communication with addl directors, superintending mineral engineers, and mineral engineers, conducting daily monitoring. This proactive approach has led to significant success in online auctions for mining dept.
The team’s dedication & increased efficiency are anticipated to continue, ensuring that the mining department’s contribution to the state’s economy becomes even more robust.
