New record achieved for auction of major mineral blocks in Rajasthan
Jaipur: A new record for the auction of major minerals in the state has been achieved in the first six months of the current financial year with 16 major mineral blocks including limestone, iron ore and base metals successfully auctioned.
This marks a significant increase, twice that of the previous year, and becomes a new record for any single year. The auction process for an additional 15 major mineral blocks is currently underway. ACS Mines Veenu Gupta highlighted Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s commitment to promoting exploration and legal mining in the state, leading to increased revenue and employment opportunities through the discovery of new mining areas and auctioned blocks.
The state govt is expected to receive revenue exceeding Rs 1,36,028 cr from mining leases in the next 50 years, with the establishment of mineralbased industries, growth in the cement sector and the creation of new employment opportunities. This year has seen successful auctions for limestone, iron ore, base metals, and associated minerals, with the auction process for 15 more mineral blocks ongoing. Last year, the state auctioned 8 major minerals, including 4 blocks for mining lease and 4 for composite licenses.
