‘My role in Assembly of an impartial teacher’

Jaipur: Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani said on Thursday, that his role in running the House will be like that of an impartial teacher. “I am basically a teacher and am aware of responsibilities and traditions. The way the teacher checks copies impartially without looking at roll numbers and names, similarly, I will treat the ruling and the Opposition parties equally in the House,” he told the media.

The Assembly Speaker said that at present the session is going on only for 29 or 30 days. “My aim is that the Assembly session should last for at least 40 days & the debate should also be meaningful. For this, the Opposition will have to cooperate,” he said.

Devnani said that soon a two-day workshop will be organised for new MLAs, in which they will be informed about the rules of the Assembly. On the question of uproar in the House, the Speaker said, “But if a situation arises, it will be resolved through immediate communication. No matter how many days you do not talk, the solution will be found only through talks. It will not be prolonged.”
